Modified screen resolution of the Meta Quest 3S
The Meta Quest 3S offers a lower screen resolution than the Meta Quest 3, at 1,832 x 1,920 pixels per eye, in exchange for a reduction in the product's price. The headset therefore retains the performance of the Meta Quest 3, but the visual quality of the Meta Quest 2. There's also a change in the lenses, with a return to Fresnel lenses compared with the Pancake lenses of the Quest 3. Meta nevertheless claims a 4.5-fold increase in resolution, for greater clarity and color compared with the Quest 2.
Ergonomics and comfort of the Meta Quest 3S
Weight and thickness The Quest 3S is slightly thicker than the Meta Quest 3 (11.6 mm thicker), making it slightly heavier at the front. However, it is actually a gram lighter than the Quest 3 (514 g vs. 515 g), but this difference is negligible in terms of overall comfort. In terms of facial interfaces: the Quest 3S features a facial interface called the “Breathable Facial Interface”, designed to offer greater comfort during long or intense sessions, particularly for users who engage in physical activity. However, this interface is not compatible with the Quest 3.
